Description:
This amazing pair of antique earrings feature carved coral drops inspired by the shapes of Roman amphorae (ancient vases or urns).  Carved pink angel coral is interspersed with gold caps textured rondelles and caps. These earrings secure with original hooks for pierced ears. A piece of true vintage elegance!
The
se earrings are design inspired during the Renaissance and Egyptian revivals of mid to late 1800s. This revival was also joined with revivals of classical Greek and Etruscan jewelry like intaglios, amphorae, and urns.
A style that borrowed style specifics from the ancient Greeks and the Roman empire (hence the name of the style: Empire). The empire period represents the second part of the Neo-Classical style, and shows a strong French influence. The style originated in the desire of Napoleon to revive the luxurious majesty of imperial Rome.
