    ------------------
This poster from the Second World War including the slogan 'Never Was So Much Owed by So Many to So Few'.
The slogan featured in the poster is derived from a wartime speech made by the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill on 20 August 1940.
In 1940, as England prepared for the German invasion of Great Britain, Winston Churchill gave a famous speech that included this line.
“The few” refers to the nearly 3,000 young pilots and air crew in the Air Force’s Fighter Command who participated in the Battle of Britain. Over the three and a half months of battle, the British were able to keep the Germans at bay, resulting in a large setback for the German troops.
