  • Condition: Used- very good condition, missing 1 pan and all silk pan threads. Original label in very good condition with artwork and words readable. Latches and hinges in excellent. Box has deep patina and has no appearance of ever being refinished. A part of a numbered paper label is attached to the top but appears it could be removed easily.

    Description

    We are offering a Cologne coin scale from Caspar Grevenberg, master from 1703 - 1738.
    Rectangular wooden box with decorations and 1 clasp.
    The master label is attached in the center of the inside of the lid. It shows the coat of arms of Grevenberg (= mountain) in a cartouche, including 6 lines of writing.
    To the right of it stands Justitia with scales and sword, to the left Conscientia or Vanitas with scales and torch, behind them Death with an hourglass.
    The scale  is made of steel with one round  brass bowl. Second bowl and silk strings are not included.   There are 13 coin weights available, 8 under the lid’s drawer and 5 in the box. The
    shaft cover for the small compartment for ace weights is missing as are the weights.
