    No repair was required and I had only done Cleaning / lubrication of the Transport, new Capstan belt and complete alignment.
    Gear Drive makes it long lasting compared idler tire used in older BX Series Nakamichi Sankyo Transport Decks
    This deck's great feature is the manual Play Head Azimuth Adjustment knob. You can Play tapes recorded in other decks and Pre recorded Cassettes with better High Frequency Response by using this adjustment. You will notice the improved playback quality.
    Note : This Deck is no different than DR 1 Model in all respects except the Casing or packaging. Internal Electronics, transport motors are all the same.
    Surprisingly, this Deck had not been appreciated as much as BX300/CR 3A/ CR 5A models. These other Decks do not have this simple Play Head Azimuth adjustment like Cassette Deck 1. I consider this feature makes this deck an ideal one for Playing your Older cassettes recorded on other machines and most of the Pre Recorded Tapes. Only CR 7A and Dragon have the Play Head azimuth adjustment facility.
    Nakamichi's strengths are its Dual Capstan Drive with Pressure Pad less transport and its Unique Parmaloy Heads. Also Nakamichi Electronics are pretty good internally with available adjustments for Metering, Playback Level/ High Frequency as well recording Bias/ Recording Sensitivity Level. All these strengths are evident once you get the Deck completely aligned and Electronic Calibration done.
    From my 15 years of regularly restoring these 25 Plus Year old Cassette Recorders, I notice that only with correct service using Nakamichi Tools you can bring the Nakamichi Magic back in its Sound performance. Low Noise and fantastic Dolby C ( Dolby Laboratories Developed Dolby C with Nakamichi ) in Playback and this one records beautifully
    So here I offer  a nice No nonsense Cassette Deck 1 if you do not want to spend lot for Dragon or CR 7A but want a decent Nak. This one was serviced for Drive mechanical cleaning/ lubrication and Head alignment as well as complete Play/ Record/ Meter Electronic calibration
    After Calibration I enjoyed its musicality as much I enjoy a Dragon or CR 7A due entirely to Azimuth adjust for Pre recorded Tapes
