This listing is for a lightly used Sony TC-KA3ES stereo cassette deck. This item has been serviced, tested, and is in complete operational condition. All functions and features are working. Recordings made on this deck are visually indistinguishable from the source. This has gear drive incorporated by design so there is no idler tire to wear. FFWD/RWND strong, search working, remote working, motorized loading cassette door working, rear illumination LED working, bias calibration working correctly, heads and tape path super clean with no signs of wear. This deck was sitting unused for several years the mode belt had failed prohibiting the use of the deck. Also the original Sony supply pinch rollers on these machines tend to fail, as was the case with this deck. All good now, you will not be disappointed. The TC-KA3ES is one of the last high quality decks Sony manufactured mid to late 1990s.
FOLLOWING SERVICE PERFORMED:
Removed tape transport
Adjusted transport stop, cue, and play points
Replaced mode belt with new
Cleaned old lubricant from capstans
Found original Sony high quality supply capstan belt in good condition cleaned and reinstalled
Installed new supply and take up pinch rollers
Re-lubed all as needed
Realigned tape path guides
Cleaned and demagnetized entire tape path
Verified that tape speed within correct specification with frequency counter
Played machine extensively for correct function
I wanted to add that the original Sony capstan belt is in good condition. The consensus is to leave the original factory belt in place when they are good. New production belts will work but at the cost of higher wow and flutter and speed fluctuation. The older belts were made with better materials and are constantly even in their construction.
Cosmetic condition is stellar on this deck with little signs of use. This is also physically clean with no dirt or nicotine contamination. Internal chassis mother board and daughter boards in immaculate condition. Included will be the factory remote control handset and a copy of the owner manual.
